ABE College Transition program awarded grant

HCC’s Adult Basic Education College Transition program, together with the Community Education Project, was awarded an $80,000 grant by the Nellie Mae Education Foundation to fund implementation of the ABE Transition to College and Careers program. In partnership with regional employers. the program brings non-traditional adult students into the education/career pipeline, with a particular emphasis on healthcare occupations. The region suffers from a shortage of healthcare workers, and such jobs typically pay above-average wages. Nellie Mae awarded a $10,000 planning grant this fall to launch the program.
