HCC alumni engagement, giving, highlighted in story

In its October 16 issue, the national publication, Community College Times, highlighted the outstanding fundraising work of HCC Alumni Council President Gloria Lomax '75 and Director of Alumni Relations Joanna Brown. The two have focused on building strong relationships with alumni, and, as a result, alumni donations to HCC have increased from $30,000 in 1999 to more than $88,000 five years later. Following the $1 million contribution by alumni Michael Kittredge ‘73 to fund the Kittredge Center for Business and Workforce Development, Lomax and Brown launched a $500,000 alumni giving campaign to support the Center. This was the largest multi-year pledge ever made by alumni of a community college, and it surpassed its goal—18 months ahead of schedule. In recognition of this accomplishment, the Clock Tower of the Kittredge Center for Business and Workforce Development was dedicated as the Alumni Clock Tower in a ceremony on July 9, 2008. A plaque recognizing the successful completion of the alumni campaign can be found in the lobby of the Kittredge Center.
