Parranda brings music, celebration to HCC campus
December is a time of year when many in the US and throughout the world celebrate and commemorate special festivities.
HCC’s Latino/International Student Association showed how these are celebrated in many Latino countries, by bringing the vibrant music and communal spirit of "Parranda" to the college on Wednesday morning, December 10.

Traditionally, the event, "Parranda Navidenna," takes place in the community by surprising friends and family at night. It starts with a small group which becomes larger as people join the group throughout the night.
HCC’s group met in front of Frost 262 and swelled, as people joined the crowd singing traditional Spanish holiday music, playing instruments, and waving flags representing all of the Latino countries in the world.
The music and celebratory spirit traveled across campus, drawing delighted people from their offices and classrooms, and culminating in the Kittredge Center with a presentation and refreshments. Parranda is joy!
