Dedicated space for electronic media and photography
Media Arts Center Opens
The culmination of years of planning and hard work, the new Media Arts Center opened this fall on the HCC campus. Dedicated to instruction in electronic media and photography, the 10,500 sq. foot facility is the only place in Western Massachusetts where students can access sophisticated digital equipment and instruction without being in the major.
Specialized studios and classrooms are dedicated to animation, sound and video production, digital imaging, and photography. Three labs bring digital and conventional photography together under one roof, with two labs dedicated to wet-process photography (one for color and one for black and white), and one dedicated to digital processing.
Theater, music, and electronic media students will have the opportunity to collaborate in a 60-seat black box performance space equipped with lighting, video projection, and a sound system.
The lounge has comfortable furniture, two large flat screens displaying student work, and an interactive touch-screen kiosk for multimedia work that requires viewer interaction.
Ready to explore video, animation, interactive media, digital imaging, sound, web, or game design? Now’s your chance!
