HCC Women's Soccer Wins Region XXI Championshipsoccer

Another win for HCC
HCC's women's soccer team delivered an outstanding performance on Sunday, beating STCC 2-0 to win the Region XXI Championship. Sara McMurray scored the first goal in the 77th minute (13 minutes left in the game...heading the ball in on a free kick), followed by a goal by Jenee King, who headed the ball in on a corner kick, in the 85th minute. Goalie Kelly Omasta made eight saves to post her 10th shutout of the year. HCC finished 10-0-1 in the region, with an overall record of 15-4-1. Kudos also to Coach Rob Galazka, who was named Region XXI Coach of the Year!

Next up is the District Playoff vs. Division IIIA winner Genesse Community College (NY). The pre-selected site for all of these playoffs, HCC will host Genesse this Saturday, November 7, for a 12:00 p.m. game. The winner goes to the National Final Four Tournament at Herkimer Community College in NY. If we win Saturday, it will be HCC's second consecutive Final Four trip. Come cheer the Cougars this Saturday at noon!
