Earn your GED today! GED at HCC provides an opportunity to earn your high school equivalency diploma. The tests are multiple-choice exams except for the essay section of the Language Arts test and several math questions. Participants also can learn more about furthering their education and how to access career counseling.

About GED at HCC

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education's GED Office is providing you with this 'calendar' for the closeout dates which will be in effect at all Official GED Test Centers in Massachusetts.

Calendar (last dates):

  • Friday, October 18, 2013 - For New GED registrations to be accepted
  • Saturday, December 14, 2013 - For ALL GED Testing in Massachusetts

Individuals who need to complete their current testing and/or retest on failed test or to make the required 450 average will be able to schedule tests if all their fees are paid and if seats are available up to December 14th date.

HCC administers the GED Tests each month throughout the calendar year. The two-day schedule is:

Day 1
Social Studies - 70 min.
Math with calculator (provided) - 45 min.
Math without calculator - 45 min.

Day 2
Language Arts, Writing Skills - 75 min.
Language Arts, Essay - 45 min.
Science - 80 min.
Language Arts, Literature - 65 min.

To pass, you must earn a total combined minimum score of 2250. You must take all 5 subject area tests within the first year.

There is a $65 fee to take the GED Tests, which is payable by money order only. The money order is payable to HCC-GED Testing. You must provide a valid MASS State I.D.

Schedule and Location

The test schedule is available from the GED Testing Services Office at (413) 552-2292 or Kittredge Center, Room 307. The office is open M-F from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Transportation and Parking

Transportation to the HCC campus is available via PVTA buses. Free parking is available in campus lots.

To Apply

First time testers can register for the GED test by attending one of HCC's walk-in group registration sessions. For those dates, contact the GED Testing Services Office at (413) 552-2292 or Kittredge Center, Room 307. The office is open M-F from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Because tests are scheduled on a space available basis, applicants who are not able to attend their chosen test dates will forfeit their fee and must reschedule in person. Reschedule fees are $17 (via money order payable to HCC-GED Testing) for each subject missed.
