Favorite thing about teaching:
The best thing about teaching in the HCC Music Department is that
I have a chance to work with the same group of students over several
semesters. The faculty and students all know each other--it's
like one big learning community that lasts for two years or more.
We all work toward common goals, and we get to see real growth
in our students.
Memorable moment at HCC:
I have great memories of many performances we've had here--student
honors recitals and ensemble concerts, last-minute performances
outside on a beautiful day, faculty and guest performances that
gave me chills... No one stands out, but together they form a
wonderful collection of memories (still growing!).
Teaching philosophy:
Being a member of a class is more involved than just showing up.
Everyone should be an active participant. Sometimes the participation
includes verbal or written contributions; sometimes it involves
asking questions; and sometimes it just means active listening
and understanding. Meet the Faculty
