Accomplishments (personal or professional):
When I was a student at HCC, I fell in love with this place. I
always wanted to come back. It is my accomplishment and pride
to teach here. I'm also proud of bringing Spanish playwrights
to the HCC stage such as Dolores Prida and Federico García
Lorca. I also love to run. I recently ran in a ½ marathon.
Favorite thing about teaching:
My favorite thing about teaching is simply being in class with
a group of individuals I enjoy. I particularly enjoy watching
students as they find their voice, speak or perform with confidence,
and leave at the end of the semester with a true sense of accomplishment
and pride.
Memorable moment at HCC:
I would have to call it memorable moments. An honor I have been
given is to announce the names of the graduates at commencement.
When I call the names of students of whom I know have worked incredibly
hard, have worked full time, have children, are paying for their
own education, or who have come through incredible obstacles to
walk on that stage and receive their diplomas, I am overwhelmed
with joy and pride.
Each student is a story of success, and I am deeply honored to
share in each memorable moment.
Teaching philosophy:
My desire is to have students open their minds to all there is
to learn, to find the relevance of things learned to their lives,
and to seek to better their world - smaller and greater.
