Tech Kidz 3-D Video Game Design: Grades 6 & Up

Digital technologies are where it's at! Just about everything we do has some sort of technology embedded inside. Our Tech Kidz summer career camp offers: 3D Video Game Design, Digital Video Production and Web Design with Animation.
Teens: Each day you'll have fun creating your own video games and you'll learn about the exciting careers that await you in the world of gaming and digital design!
Parents: Your child can be part of the action. Is your child into video games, the Internet, digital arts, and just about anything high tech? Technology provides a wealth of careers. And, young people provide the creative spirit necessary to catch the next technology wave.
All courses are taught by professionally trained HCC staff. Our instructors hold a bachelor's degree or higher in technology, have real-world business experience in digital design or video game design, and have been teaching for two years or more.
Camp Notes: Participants should bring a flash drive. Most software used in camp is available online as open source software. Participants will be given a list of sites from which to download the open source software at home. Other software is available on campus while in camp. Participants must bring a lunch, snacks and drinks. We have a special area assigned for breaks and lunches. Camp participants do not leave the reserved lunch or break area. Lunch hour is from Noon - 1 p.m. daily or as scheduled by staff. Cell phones must be turned off during camp.
The Biz Kidz Club for Young Entrepreneurs
Boys & Girls grades 9 and up

Do you like using your creativity to start things, to build things? Are you a self-starter? Would you like to learn how to develop and possibly sell what you build? Do you have a talent others could use? Selling a product or service that others need but cannot effectively produce themselves is what developing a business is about.
HCC is dedicated to helping young people like you achieve their goals by exploring the world of entrepreneurship and small business ownership. Being part of the Biz Kidz Club for Young Entrepreneurs means using state-of-the-art technology and resources to help you, as a young entrepreneur, look into the world of business, tap into your creativity and develop a business concept that may one day become a profitable venture for you.
Camp Notes: Basic computer skills are required. Participants should also bring a lunch, snacks, and drinks. HCC does not provide lunch or take participants to the cafeteria due to allergies, dietary issues and medical concerns of participants. Cell phones must be turned off during camp. The Mummy Lives Archaeological Adventure

Join us in this camp to learn about past civilizations and how they compare to us today. You'll prepare for a new career by learning ancient Egyptian techniques of Mummy Wrapping, Funerary Mask Painting, and more!
Archaeology is the study of human civilizations of the past. By recovering, studying, and analyzing environmental artifacts, architecture, and other cultural findings left behind by previous human societies, we get a glimpse of how they lived, worked, worshiped, and played. If you want to explore careers in the sciences, Archaeology blends several together including astronomy, mathematics, sociology, geology, among other disciplines.
Camp Notes: All participants must wear closed-toe shoes such as sneakers and comfortable, long pants. Cell phones must be turned off during camp.

The da Vinci in Me Visual Arts Studio
Boys & Girls ages 6-15

Leonardo da Vinci was a renowned Renaissance Man. His talent and the diversity of his skills live on to this day in his paintings, sculptures, and architecture. Could you be the next Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, William Hogarth, or Leonardo da Vinci? Interested in expressing yourself through the visual arts? In this camp test your skill and learn new ones in the forms of Anime, Drawing, Caricatures, and Portraits. Have fun exaggerating the likeness of your best friend in a caricature. Create a portrait of your sibling focusing on the special traits of her or his face and expression to capture their personality on canvas. Or, use Anime to create Japanese animation by hand. You will work with pencil, charcoal, pastel, and watercolor paints. Explore the use of color through the blending and shading of pastels and paints. Create your masterpiece from people and things around you including the majesty of the outdoors.

CSI
Boys & Girls grades 6 and up

Are you good at finding clues, at solving mysteries? We'll use hands-on activities such as fingerprint analysis, foot print molds, and other techniques to explore detective work, observe the scene, gather & analyze evidence, and draw conclusions. We'll gather and use physical evidence to solve a mystery.
Camp Notes: Wear old clothes as (weather permitting) you will be outside some of the time. Participants should bring their drinks and snacks. Cell phones must be turned off during camp.
HCC Teen Culinary Academy

Explore the exciting world of culinary arts by learning skills from HCC expert chefs. Learn the basics of food safety and proper handling of utensils. Have fun learning proper culinary techniques such as how to julienne, chop, dice, cut, and plate your meals while making delicious and healthy wraps, pizzas, treats, and more! Discover hospitality careers with knowledgeable and successful chefs while having fun cooking!
Camp Notes: We follow ServSafe® Food Handling procedures. All allergies must be disclosed prior to beginning of camp to ensure meals are safe for all participants. All participants must wear non-stick, closed-toe shoes such as sneakers and comfortable, long pants. Participants should not wear jewelry. Cell phones must be turned off during camp. Long hair should be pulled back.
Extreme Science
Boys & Girls grades 4-8

Have you ever wondered why we have such extreme weather? Maybe you want to know what happened to dinosaurs or you're interested in nature in all its amazing forms. In this camp you'll explore new areas related to weather, the Earth, the oceans and general science each day. Look at the cause and effect of extreme weather from typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes and tsunamis to earthquakes, mud slides and other earth-rattling events. You'll look at Earth's history from insects to dinosaurs and examine the ocean and how it affects weather. Projects you create will help you grasp the topics discussed in camp.
