Staff, Faculty, and Students
ITD in its efforts to improve services to faculty, staff and students is moving forward with the conversion of all HCC constituents to HCC's Gmail.
Some of the benefits of the new system are:
* Email anywhere any time... Your email is stored on the web, so it is accessible from work or home or where ever you might be.
* Increased online email storage, 7 GB of email storage
* Powerful search tools to find an email quickly
* Built-in instant messaging with Google Chat
* Better calendar solution
* Easy to develop and share calendars
* Easy to schedule appointment with other staff, faculty or students.
* Powerful collaboration tools with Google Docs.
* 500MB of online storage space to help you manage documents, spreadsheets and presentations
* Online help videos
* Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Presentation software available for online editing, no Microsoft Office needed.
* This system is replacing our older email system that would have required HCC to invest in new hardware and consulting.
We recommend that you first log into your new email account. Students may have inadvertently sent mail to the wrong account this Fall.
You can login to your new account using your current Luminis portal account and password.
Please click on the link below to login:
http://mail.hcc.edu
If you need immediate assistance in logging in to the new system please contact the Helpdesk (helpdesk@hcc.edu or x2075).
***If you have forwarded your new mail account (@hcc.edu) to your current mail account (@hcc.mass.edu) please notify the Help Desk immediately as you will not receive ANY new mail starting 9/28/09 unless that is changed***
Throughout the Fall semester we will be working by division to ensure the transfer of all of your existing email to the new system. We anticipate all email being converted by the end of this semester.
* We will be scheduling appointments for anyone using Outlook or Outlook Express because ITD will need to meet with you to move your mail.
* For staff and faculty who utilize the current web mail system we will provide you with instructions on how to move your mail from the old system to the new system.
* We will also schedule a series of workshops for staff and faculty to drop-in to receive assistance in transferring their web mail.
* We will make available access to online documentation and videos on the use of the new system as well as answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) http://www.hcc.edu/Portal/resources.html
