Service-learning is a method of instruction in which students learn by participating in hands-on homework assignments in the community. The work the students engage in is directly related to the objectives of their class and meets the needs of the community organization. Service learning is a tool not only for learning, but also encourages students to be active, engaged citizens in their communities.
