Holyoke Community College yesterday honored entrepreneur Ted Hebert, retail specialist Gayle Smith, and registered nurse Ruth Amador at the 39th Annual Holyoke Community College Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner and Scholarship Benefit.
Hebert, '71, of West Springfield, is founder and president of Teddy Bear Pools and a member of the HCC Board of Trustees.
Smith, '74, of Granby, is president of Middlebridge Marketing, Inc., in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Smith was also recognized this spring at HCC Commencement with a Distinguished Service Award.
Amador, of Springfield, received her associate degree in nursing from HCC in 2005, and is now a registered nurse at Baystate Wing and Hartford hospitals and founder of the western Massachusetts chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses. She will be recognized with the inaugural Rising Star Award, which celebrates alumni who have received their undergraduate degrees within the last 12 years and have made significant contributions to society through professional or philanthropic work.
Each year, the Holyoke Community College Alumni Association and the HCC Foundation recognize two or three distinguished alumni for their professional accomplishments and community service.
The awards dinner and benefit was held Tuesday, June 6, at The Log Cabin.
