HCC and Mount Holyoke College to celebrate adult literacy

The Holyoke Community College Adult Learning Center and the Mount Holyoke College Community-Based Learning Program will celebrate adult literacy at an event on Thursday, March 8, from 7-8 p.m. in Gamble Auditorium at Mount Holyoke College.

"A Person with a Dream: A Celebration of Adult Literacy" will bring together adult learners from HCC's Adult Learning Center in Holyoke and student tutors from Mount Holyoke College to share stories and experiences about working together in HCC's adult learning program.

HCC's Adult Learning Center is located at the Picknelly Adult & Family Education Center in the transportation station in downtown Holyoke. This free, intensive, evening GED Preparation program that offers basic literacy, adult basic education, pre-GED preparation, and GED preparation classes along with a host of companion services including technology training, career development, field trips to local colleges for classes and demonstrations and academic counseling

The Mount Holyoke College Community-Based Learning program links Mount Holyoke College students with communities through courses, independent studies, internships, and research and service projects that combine learning and analysis with action and social change.
