Foundations of Excellence Project

More than 150 faculty, staff and students will participate this year in the Foundations of Excellence project, a year-long, comprehensive self-study that will look at the experience of first-year students at HCC. Guided by the Policy Center on the First Year of College, the project team will evaluate college policies and practices and ultimately develop and implement a plan aimed at increasing HCC student learning, success, and persistence. The evaluation includes consideration of HCC in the context of nine dimensions believed critical to first year student success: philosophy, organization, campus culture, diversity, transitions, roles and purposes, learning, all students, and improvement.
