If you are a new student at HCC, the First Year Experience (FYE) program can provide you with individualized support. FYE is designed to help you successfully transition to HCC and achieve your academic goals. HCC's Philosophy of the First Year means that college faculty and staff intentionally create a foundation for college success and are committed to helping new students.
You will get to know and work with other first year students in classes and activities just for you. Unsure about your major? Our Academic Advisor will help you explore majors, choose classes, and get the academic support you need. Want to explore your career options? Our Career Counselor will help you learn about career fields and connect you to resources.
HCC offers many courses just for new students. Our faculty and staff are creating new FYE courses designed to help new students succeed. Look for FYE courses in the college catalog and registration booklet. Meet with your Advisor to discuss the benefits of FYE!
The FYE program offers workshops and activities throughout the year. Check our page here, or stop by the FYE Office to learn about upcoming events.
The FYE Activity Director's Office is open M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Our office is located in Frost Building, Room 240.
Transportation to the HCC campus is available via PVTA buses. Parking is available in student lots.
FYE is funded by a Strengthening Institutions Grant fully funded by the United States Department of Education.
