Student Government

The Student Senate represents the voice of the students to the administration of the college. We provide and promote a partnership in governance among all segments of the college community. Throughout the year, the Senate plans and participates in activities and events that contribute to the college and the surrounding community.

Interested in joining Student Senate? Run for a position for the upcoming academic year (fall 2024 and spring 2025)! Any Holyoke Community College student who meets the eligibility requirements can run for the position of Senator at Large..

Students who have served as a Senator at Large for at least one semester are eligible to run for a position on the Executive Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer). 
Learn more and run for a Student Senate position. Declaration of Candidacy forms for students who are interested are due by Thursday, April 25. Contact Alexis Roach at aroach@hcc.edu if you have questions about position duties, eligibility, or the election process.

Cast your vote! The voting period will run from Monday, April 29 until Thursday, May 2. The link to vote will be shared in the Week at a Glance and the form will open for responses when the voting period begins.

Student Senate Application

Senator Requirements:
  1. Currently enrolled at the college with at least 1 credit
  2. Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5*
  3. Recommendation from a staff or faculty member*
  4. Completed application form
  5. 25 student signatures

*First semester students are exempt from these requirements.
