CINAHL Plus with Full Text includes rigorous curation and indexing of open access (OA) journals, which has resulted in a growing collection of 1,443 active global Open Access journals.

Health and Wellness Resource Center

Provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, numerous reference volumes, over 700 health videos from partner Healthology, Inc., hundreds of pamphlets and health-related articles from 2,200 general interest publications in addition to a broad collection of Gale reference titles.

MEDLINE

MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.

Nursing and Allied Health Collection

Provides access to academic journals and other reference content covering all aspects of the nursing profession, from direct patient care to health care administration. The database offers current content for professionals already working in the field as well as students pursuing a nursing-focused curriculum.

JAMA: Journal of the American Medical Association

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association is a peer-reviewed medical journal published 48 times a year by the American Medical Association. It publishes original research, reviews, and editorials covering all aspects of the biomedical sciences. 

AHFS Consumer Medication Information

Patient drug information; includes more than a thousand drug information monographs written in lay language for consumers. Published by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Available in both English and Spanish.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition

This database provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals.

Academic OneFile is a source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's English language journals and reference sources. It has extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature, and other subjects, and millions of full-text articles available in both PDF and HTML.

Academic Search Complete

Provides full-text access to thousands of journals, including peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.

Designed for doctors, research scientists, students, and clinical specialists, this database provides full text for over 100 journals in a variety of areas pertaining to medical study. All titles included in the Biomedical Reference Collection: Basic Edition are indexed in MEDLINE.

Health Source: Consumer Edition

This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition features searchable full text for nearly 150 journals.

Films on Demand

Films on Demand is a comprehensive collection of high-quality educational videos licensed from a long established educational media distributor (Films for the Humanities and Sciences).  Other content providers for Films on Demand include BBC Shakespeare, HBO, Davidson Films, California Newsreel, PBS and many more.  Over 50,000 videos cover a wide range of topics organized into broad subjects. Individual segments subdivide each video into discrete shorter units.

Kanopy Streaming

Kanopy is a leading distributor of educational videos. Major subjects covered include the arts, business and training, health sciences, media and communication, natural sciences, social sciences, and teacher education. Users can search, browse and stream videos. Login Instructions

PsycINFO

PsycINFO, from the American Psychological Association (APA), contains more than 2 million citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines, dating as far back as the 1800s. 97 percent of the covered material is peer-reviewed. Journal coverage, which spans 1887 to present, includes international material selected from nearly 2,000 periodicals in more than 25 languages.

PubMed Central

This is a free full-text archive of over 8 million articles from biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine.

MedlinePlus

Brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included in MedlinePlus and give easy access to medical journal articles. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news.

DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals

DOAJ is a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals (over four million articles).  This link limits to journals that have their "Seal of Approval"; see more information about that and this service.

Nursing textbooks on reserve

The library has over thirty textbooks used in nursing classes and can be borrowed for two hours at a time.  These are located at our circulation desk and other nursing books are on the fourth floor (most have a call number starting wtih RT but more general medical books start with R).

Salem Health

Salem Health is a collection of complete online reference books. The collection includes: CancerGeneticsMagill's Medical Guide (Sixth Edition), and Psychology & Mental Health.

HCC Online Catalog

Most of HCC's online books are linked from the online catalog. The catalog also includes physical items in the library: reference books, circulating books, music, dvds, audio books, and other media. You may also use the online catalog to search for items in your public library.

Gale Virtual Reference Library

Simultaneously search through more than 200 encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research.

eBook Academic Collection

This growing subscription package contains a large selection of multidisciplinary eBook titles representing a broad range of academic subject matter, and is a strong complement for any academic collection. ZoteroBib ZoteroBib helps you build a bibliography instantly from any computer or device, without creating an account or installing any software. If you need a citation tool with more features, consider Zotero.

MyBib Citation Generator

MyBib is a free online citation bibliography creation tool. It can create citations and bibliographies in many styles including MLA and APA. MyBib allows you to paste in a website URL or even search for a book, article, or other source by title, and will pull most of the information you need to create a citation (though you may need to double check that the information is correct and complete).

Once you've created your citations, MyBib allows you to copy paste your citations, download them as a Word document, save them to your Google Drive, print them, or email them to yourself.
